HFBWA Celebrates the Life and Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
The currently featured video at Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii’s YouTube Channel is “HFBWA Celebrates the Life and Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.“:
** Premieres Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 11 a.m. HST **
Marching in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Parade each year, the Buddhist Women’s Association, Pacific Buddhist Academy, and friends carry bamboo poles strung with origami cranes, or tsuru. The tsuru is a symbol of peace. Other members of our group hand out hundreds of tsuru to those watching the parade; it is our way of making a personal connection and sharing peace.
As you watch the video of our participation in previous parades, enjoy the song “Peace on Your Wings” written by Laurie Rubin and Jenny Taira of Ohana Arts and performed by the Ohana Arts students. More …
Have a nice week,
Communications Committee
